Partnership for Empowering Trafficking Survivors through Ethical Peer Support

Voice Found is excited to announce a new partnership with The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, which has secured $733,295 in funding from Women and Gender Equality (WAGE). This funding will propel our project, "Nurturing Hope: A Peer Support Path for Trafficking Survivors," to new heights.

This project will allow us to further our work on our Ethical Peer Support Program. Specifically, we will be conducting research, evaluating the effectiveness of the program, and building capacity across Canada. This work will ensure that peer supporters, organizations, and peers are prepared for this critical role. In addition, it will provide opportunities for survivor employment, support for organizations to train peer supporters, and help victims of human trafficking build a new life.

On January 11th our steering committee, comprised of people with lived experience, researchers, and evaluators, kicked off the project with an all-day meeting in Toronto. We gained valuable insight and have solidified our commitment to doing this work ethically and with survivors at the centre.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Women and Gender Equality and the Government of Canada for their support. You can find the funding announcement and the list of Ontario recipients here.
