One of the best things we can do to help prevent a child from being sexually abused is to educate them. Providing them with accurate and age appropriate information goes a long way to empowering them. Children are exposed to so much through social media and their peers and often this can provide them with mis-information. Take time to have open and ongoing conversations with your children about sex, relationships, trust, and the difference between love and abuse. Help children to know that their body is their body and they have a right to say no to anybody who makes them feel uncomfortable. You want your children to feel that they can come and talk to you about anything – and that includes sex.
